All About Alice Elliott
Teaching & Workshops
A teacher, filmmaker, activist, and small business owner, Alice Elliott is qualified to present workshops, short courses and individual coaching. Her guest lecturing includes screenings and workshops at Duke Center for Documentary Studies, University of North Carolina, Centenary College, Roger Williams College, Southern Methodist University, University of Nebraska, and University of California at North Ridge. Her focus is on using film to organize and inspire social justice. A freelance film and television director, she teaches television studio directing and documentary directing for NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Her workshops range from several hours to one or two days. Topic covered can include an introduce documentary traditions, talk about audio and video production, give a critical vocabulary for evaluating work, and guide filmmakers.
She is available as a media consultant, guest lecturer to present her films, curate a program of films, run a workshop, and coach filmmakers. Her special areas of focus are disability issues, film funding, documentary production, independent media, distribution, and television production.

From inception, to financing, to broadcasting, including submitting to film festivals, distributing, and doing outreach for her Academy Award nominated short documentary. The story of how she created the film, the trust fund for Larry Selman, and how they are still connected today.
DVDs are more than a Disc: Designing and Distributing a Fully Accessible DVD Tool
Alice teaches about about creating or re-purposing existing films into DVD. Her designer can also be engaged to advise from her extensive technical background on budget, add ons, “Easter eggs”, and other fun features.
